RECENT ANNOUCEMENTS
-President Obama declares areas in New York a disaster area. The following areas are now eligible for diaster relief: individuals in the counties of Broome, Chenango, Delaware, Otsego, and Tioga. Apply for Disaster Assistance or by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362).
-BOIL WATER ORDER LIFTED for the following: Johnson City, Choconut Center, Dickinson, City/Town of Binghamton and areas of Endicott. Source: Broome County. (other areas may still be impacted and conserve water is order still in effect).
-Exchange Street Bridge – still closed. Other bridges to downtown are open.

CURRENT ADVISORIES IN EFFECT
-The flood water is TOXIC. Do not come into contact with it.
-All of Broome County – MANDATORY water conservation. Do not do laundry, run dishwashers, or wash cars.
-BOIL WATER: Broome County (includes city and town of Binghamton, villages of Johnson City and Endicott, etc.), town of Dickinson, Choconut Center, towns of Chenango and Union, village of Windsor. Note: Binghamton University is NOT affected by boil water advisory.

-Do not drive flooded cars until they are completely dried out– vehicles which have been flooded can be damaged if turned over prior to being cleared of water/sludge.
-There is to be no entry into evacuation zones or on any premises that is evacuated without the express permission of emergency officials.
-There is a prohibition of the use of waterways for recreational purposes.

ADVISORIES IN EFFECT
-Do not drive flooded cars until they are completely dried out, in order to reduce damage.
-The flood water is TOXIC. Do not come into contact with it.
-All of Broome County – MANDATORY water conservation. Do not do laundry, run dishwashers, or wash cars.
-BOIL WATER: Broome County (includes city and town of Binghamton, villages of Johnson City and Endicott, etc.), town of Dickinson, Choconut Center, towns of Chenango and Union, village of Windsor.
Note: Binghamton University is NOT affected by boil water advisory.
-Town of Union: The water will be shut off soon.
-Avoid using Sewage System (Binghamton, JC).
-Avoid using voice cell phone services.
-Conserve tap Water usage as filtration systems are down.
-Conserve Power at this time.

GENERAL SITUATION:
-VESTAL: As of 3:40p on Friday, 4 Corners levee has given way has been flowing over, due to the retention pond on Pumphouse Road backing up, flooding the Big Lots plaza, police station, courthouse, and Route 434 in that area. This area is being evacuated and should be avoided.
-WESTSIDE: Appears to be free of substantial damage and it doesnt appear the flood walls failed or that their was widespread flooding.
-DOWNTOWN: Western Downtown flooded from Susquehanna street south under 4-5 feet of water; 2 blocks of Southern side of Downtown Binghamton were flooded with upwards of 10ft of water during crest and appear to have been greatly damaged.
-SOUTHSIDE: Western side of Southside is mostly dry now (near Number 5 and 434); The areas flood walls do not appear to have failed and the flooding was roughly as expected. Telegraph to Conklin are now clear. The roads near Tompkins and Hall are not being blocked by the city.
-EASTSIDE: Police/military are still blocking entry – our reporter was unable to enter the area to assess damage.

-To report electric emergencies and power interruptions, NYSEG customers should call l 800-572-1131. To report natural gas emergencies, call 800-572-1121.
-BU has established two phone numbers – 888-787-0540 and 888-787-0541 – for people needing information about the Red Cross shelters that have been set up on campus.
-To check if your loved ones are safe and well at Safewandwell, call the red cross at the numbers above, or file a police report/missing persons assistance.
-No dry ice at JC Fire Dept.
-The Red Cross Operation Center is still accepting food donations. Their number is (607)-778-2450

BU/STUDENT INFORMATION
-OCCT and BC Buses cancelled for the weekend
-Volunteers are to wear versatile clothing– no baggy clothing/sandals.

-Johnson City High School may need assistance tomorrow and in the near future. The phone number is 607-763-1200, followed by 1 and the extension 2468.

-Vestal Target (Well stocked, but out of a few items like bread and gallons of water)

-Lourdes, General, Wilson all open.
-Lourdes Primary Care practice on Upper Front Street is open from 1 PM onwards
-Other Lourdes auxillary locations may be closed.

CLOSED:
-Wegmans (plans to open at 7 AM tomorrow)
-Walmart in Vestal
-State Office Building
-Lourdes: Primary Care practices on Upper Front Street (see “Open”), South Washington Street (Binghamton), Fifth Avenue (Owego), Oakdale Road *Johnson City). Other closed services include the Gastroenterology Lab, Broome Urology and Oncology, Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy, Hope Dispensary, Youth Services, Center for Oral Health, and Occupational Health.
-BC Transit Regular Routes Suspended All Day.
-OCCT Suspended for the day and the weekend.
-Price Chopper in Owego
-Sunoco on Hooper Road (out of gas)
-Weis – Endicott and small store on Front Street (1240 Front Street, Hinmans Corner)

ROADS REOPENING:
-201 North (Congested, but flowing– going north easier than south)
-Parts of 17 (West to Airport road is backed up!)
-Conklin Kirkwood Bridge (Open now)
-81: Partially open but is backed up for several miles on 81N, all traffic detoured at exit 6.
-434 begins to open
-Clinton Street and State Street Bridge to foot traffic.
-Highway on 17 heading into Binghamton is bumper to bumper.

-Main bridges into Downtown – outbound traffic only.

-Interstate 88 is closed.
-Main Street past 201 is blocked.
-434 West past courthouse may be flooded. use caution.

POWER OUTAGES:
Vestal – Near Courthouse and near knight road
Johnson City – Near Old High School
Johnson City (Broadly)
Endicott – Municipal BACK ON!

BASEMENT FLOODED?

• Do not step in the water. Lower a pump and continue lowering it as the water level goes down.
• Pump the water as far away as possible.
• After the water is removed, use a ShopVac to get rid of the remaining water.
• Use a dehumidifier to keep mold and mildew from forming.
• Water should be removed from basements as soon as possible.
• Once water is in a cellar, mold and mildew will follow

11:45pm- Southside flooded 2 blocks in (to Vestal Ave) on the west side and likely east through the lower sections. Power on in unevacuated sections of Southside.

    you have been a terrific source of info for the past two days. i complement your coverage. i am in nyc but have a place in bradford county and you are the only consistant source of information that i could find in the area.

    do you happen to know if 88 west is open. i have seen people on parts of 88 west up by harpursville. is the mudslide on the east side 88?

    and you have been doing an amazing job i live in johnson city and spent the better part of a day and half listening to your broadcast….thank you for your devotion to getting out the information in this time of crisis
